Samsung will not be compelled to update phones of 2 years or older, a court ruling in The Netherlands says. The South Korean mobile phone manufacturer has been hit with a claim in the country, stating it needs to give protection updates for its tools at the very least 4 years after they had first taken place sale in the country.

The claim was filed by Consumer team Consumentenbond.

Samsung said that it updates its devices for two years after they initially go on sale in the country, and also that it considers it a ‘prompt fashion’. It likewise stated there requires to be a delay until Samsung tests Google’s upgrade for compatibility problems.

The court ruled that there could be no other way for Samsung to maintain all of its tools updated for four years. Consumentenbond’s insurance claims were inadmissible as they related to future acts.

Consumentenbond said the judgment was “unsatisfactory”, the BBC reported

“Samsung decides to bring numerous designs to the marketplace, there is no-one that requires them to do so. An auto manufacturer need to also make certain that its designs are secure and also reputable and continue to be so. Samsung has the same commitment,” it said in a statement.
